What we ask for when you book, who sees it, and how to have it taken off our books.

Hair Shine Sausalito is a one-chair salon at Salons by JC, Suite #09, 190 Donahue Street, Sausalito, California 94965. We are a small local business, not an advertising company. We ask for the few details we need to give you an appointment, and nothing beyond that.
When you send a booking request through this website, the form asks for:
That is the whole form. We do not ask for your address, your date of birth, or any payment details on this website.
If you call, text or email us instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that message — usually your name and number, and what you would like done.
In the salon we keep simple working notes on the chair: what we cut, what color formula we mixed, what you told us about allergies or sensitivities, and anything you asked us to remember for next time. It is how we get the same result twice.
We use your details to confirm your appointment, to reach you if something changes on the day, to price a service correctly before you commit to it, and to pick up where we left off at your next visit. We do not use them for anything else.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or marketing lists. We do not add you to a mailing list because you booked an appointment.
A booking request is turned into a text message and sent to the salon phone. Sending it involves two services:
Each of these sees the booking only because it has to in order to deliver it. Beyond that, the only people who see your details are the salon.
We will also hand over information if the law genuinely requires it — a court order, a subpoena, or a legal obligation we cannot refuse.
This website sets no cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session tracking, and nothing stored in your browser between visits. You are not followed from this site to anywhere else.
Like every website, the server that hosts these pages keeps ordinary access logs. When a booking is submitted, your IP address is held for ten minutes in a temporary file, purely to stop the form being flooded with automated requests. It is not linked to your booking and it is not kept.
When you send a booking request or text the salon, you are asking us to reply by text, and we will — to confirm the appointment, to suggest another time, or to let you know if something has changed. These are messages about your own booking, not marketing.
If you would rather we called instead, say so in the notes and we will. Reply STOP at any time and we will stop texting you. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
The before-and-after photographs on this website were taken in the salon by Tony Perez. We ask before we take a photograph, and we ask again before one goes on the site. No name is ever attached to a photograph.
If a photograph of you is on this site and you would like it taken down, tell us and it comes down. You do not have to give a reason, and it will not change how you are treated in the chair.
Booking texts stay on the salon phone for as long as they are useful and are cleared out periodically. Chair notes are kept while you are a client of the salon. Ask us to delete either and we will.
At any time you may ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete it altogether. Call, text or email — there is no form to fill in.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information in the sense the Act means, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the rights to know, to correct and to delete are yours, and we will not treat you differently for using them.
We cut children's hair from the age of five, and those appointments are made by a parent or guardian, whose details we hold rather than the child's. This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Bookings are sent over an encrypted connection and reach a passcode-locked phone. We keep no card numbers on this website and no client database on the open internet. No system is perfect, but there is very little here to lose in the first place.
If this policy changes, the new version goes up on this page with a new date at the top. If a change is a significant one, we will say so in the salon.
