How booking works, how we quote a price, and what you can expect from us.
Last updated 20 August 2026
These terms cover this website and the services we provide at Hair Shine Sausalito, Salons by JC, Suite #09, 190 Donahue Street, Sausalito, California 94965. By using this site, sending a booking request, or sitting in the chair, you are agreeing to them. They are written plainly on purpose.
Sending the form on this website asks us for a time. It does not book it. We confirm every request by text or phone, usually the same day, and your appointment exists once we have confirmed it — not before.
We may occasionally have to offer a different time. The chair holds one person at a time, and a slot that looks open on the calendar may already be spoken for by the time your request reaches us.
The price menu is the current list, and it may change. The price that applies to your appointment is the one we confirm with you before we start.
Prices marked with a plus sign are starting prices. Hair that is longer, denser or more time-consuming than the standard service costs more and takes more time. Tell us when you book so we can set aside the right length of appointment and confirm the price up front — nobody likes a surprise at the end.
We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we can often start earlier or stay later than the posted hours. Appointments outside 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM are priced differently, and we will always confirm the cost with you before booking one.
Root touch-ups and color services cannot be booked without a consultation first. The consultation is fifteen minutes, it is complimentary, and it exists so that we can look at your hair, hear what you want, and tell you honestly what is achievable and what it will cost. Booking a color service without one means we will contact you to arrange the consultation before confirming the appointment.
Please arrive a few minutes before your time. If you are running late, call or text — we will hold the chair where we can, but a late start may mean a shortened service, and appointments after yours cannot be pushed back. The full details are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
We cut children's hair from the age of five. Children under five are not seated, and this is not negotiable — it is about giving a child a good experience rather than a frightening one. A parent or guardian books the appointment, stays in the salon for it, and is responsible for payment.
Please tell us before we start about allergies, scalp conditions, recent chemical treatments, box color, medication or pregnancy — anything that could change how your hair or scalp responds. We cannot know what has been on your hair before you sat down, and what has been on it changes what we can safely do.
Where a service calls for one, we may ask for a patch test before your appointment. If you decline a patch test we may decline the service.
We reserve the right to refuse or stop a service if we judge it unsafe for your hair or your scalp. Saying no is part of the job.
Hair is not uniform. Two people asking for the same thing, with the same products in the same hands, will not always get an identical result — texture, porosity, existing color and how the hair has been treated before all have a say. The photographs on this site are of real work on real clients and are there to show what we do, not to promise the same outcome on different hair. We will always tell you beforehand what we believe is realistic.
Payment is due when the service is finished, in the salon. Tell us in advance if you have a question about the total — we would rather talk about it before we start than after.
We keep the information here accurate, but we do not guarantee that every page is complete, current or free of error at every moment, and prices, hours and services can change. The site is provided as it is.
Everything on this site — the photographs, the written copy, the lettering and the logo — belongs to Hair Shine Sausalito. All hair and photography is by Tony Perez. Please do not copy, republish or use any of it commercially without asking us first. Ask; the answer is often yes.
Some links lead off this site, such as the map link to Google Maps. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for anything the law does not permit us to limit. Beyond that, our liability in connection with a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute belongs to the state or federal courts serving Marin County, California.
We may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page with its date at the top, and the version in force for your appointment is the one published when we confirmed it.
